Council President Dr. Lilisa Mimms Thanks Governor Mikie Sherrill for Budget Address and Increased Transitional Aid

Paterson, NJ — Council President Dr. Lilisa Mimms expressed her appreciation to Governor Mikie Sherrill following the Governor’s State Budget Address, particularly recognizing the administration’s commitment to increasing transitional aid for municipalities like Paterson.

“On behalf of the residents of Paterson, I want to thank Governor Sherrill for recognizing the importance of supporting cities through increased transitional aid,” said Council President Mimms. “Her understanding that a stable city is a safe city reflects the reality many urban communities face. Financial stability allows municipalities to continue providing essential services, invest in neighborhoods, and strengthen public safety.”

Dr. Mimms noted that the Governor’s budget priorities acknowledge the challenges that cities face and the need for state partnership to maintain stability and progress.

“I appreciate the Governor’s leadership and her commitment to ensuring cities like Paterson have the resources needed to remain strong, safe, and resilient,” Mimms added.
